Vanessa’s Lunchbox

Details

I spent a lot of happy hours as a kid playing with radio control cars. My dad would build them, I would crash them, and he would repair them.

The one I always wanted — but never had the chance to destroy — was the yellow Tamiya monster truck “Vanessa’s Lunchbox”, and on a whim I decided to buy the kit to keep me entertained in the early part of the pandemic.

I then went totally overboard with making it, including getting a small spray booth for the garage, painting and finishing every component individually, putting in a faster motor (obviously) and replacing most structural parts with aluminum upgrades.

It is a lot of fun, and yes I have crashed it. Unfortunately now I’m a dad myself it’s on me to repair it.
